Where I've Been Roaming

Solo traveler overlooking a mountain landscape

From solo escapes to road trips to cruises to overseas adventures — every place on this list has a story behind it.

Travel has become one of the ways I reconnect with myself. Some trips have been carefully planned adventures, others have been spontaneous escapes, and some have simply given me the space I needed to breathe. Here you'll find the places I've explored, what I discovered along the way, and what I'd recommend if you're considering going there yourself.

Savannah, Georgia

Solo Escape

Savannah, Georgia

My first real solo trip. Savannah's moss-draped squares, unhurried pace, and extraordinary food made it the perfect place to remember what it felt like to just be — with no agenda and no one to answer to.

    Classic New England

    Road Trip

    Classic New England

A solo road trip through Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine in peak fall. Winding back roads, covered bridges, apple orchards, and the kind of quiet that only comes when the leaves are turning and the tourists have gone home.

      Adventure

      Mother-Daughter Europe

A trip I almost didn't take — and one I'll never forget. My daughters and I spent two weeks in Germany, with short trips into France, Switzerland and Austria,. We hiked, explored the Alps, wandered medieval towns, cruised the Rhine, explored the Black Forest and had the kind of conversations you can only have when you're far from home. Stay tuned for the story behind this trip—why we almost didn't go, how it reawakened my love of adventure, and how it became one of the first steps on my road back to myself.

        In the Fall

        Stowe, Vermont

In October, my daughter and I are heading to Stowe, Vermont for a fall weekend together—chasing colorful mountain views, exploring charming small towns, enjoying good food, and making a few more memories along the way. It’s a simple weekend escape, but sometimes those are the trips that mean the most.

          Weekend Escapes from New York

          From New York

          Weekend Escapes from New York

Living in the Hudson Valley/Catskill Region means some of the Northeast's best weekend escapes are practically in my backyard. Think the Berkshires, the Finger Lakes, the Delaware Water Gap, Woodstock, and the charming river towns along the Hudson. These are the close-to-home trips I keep coming back to when I need to reset without going far.
